JACK DOUGLAS LEACH
Jack Douglas Leach (18003) Royal Canadian Airforce Though Jack was born in England he was a true Canadian having immigrated with his parents at the age of two. He was educated in the Windsor area at Sandwich Collegiate. He joined the RCAF in 1943 where he trained as a Spitfire pilot. Eventually, joining the “City of Windsor” squadron on its wartime journey up the Italian peninsula. He was released from service in August, 1945 but because he missed flying, he reenlisted in March 1949. In the following twenty-two years he graduated from flying single engine airplanes to jets. He flew around the globe until his final retirement in 1971 when we returned to reside in Windsor. It was a fulfilled life in the service of his country, Canada. Submitted by Joan Leach |
