“After Dad enlisted, he was stationed in Hornchurch, England and served as a tail gunner on the Lancaster.  He was on 17 missions.  He crash landed and the wireless operator was killed and Dad broke both legs in the accident.

After he recovered, he was sent to Egypt where he served as a grounds crew for the Spitfires and Hurricanes.”
