Lawrence Station, Ontario (near St. Thomas) The Royal Canadian Air Force August 28, 1942 Rosemont, Quebec RCAF Debert, Nova Scotia - RAF No. 31 OTU 32 trips - Atlantic Transport Command #45 Group June 21, 1945 Flight Lieutenant August 14, 1945 Dorval, Quebec |
“My father flew Dakotas with the 437 Husky Squadron. He was stationed in Iceland for a period of time. When he first received his equipment and uniform, it was all for tropical countries, so they sent him to Iceland! It was always a joke in our family. That and his hatred of brussel sprouts!
He flew gliders, supplies and paratroopers into Arheim and later flew wounded from France to England on Ferry Command. At the end of the war stationed at Dorval, Quebec, he would fly planes back to Canada and then take the Queen Mary back.
He moved to Leamington in 1950 to work in Quality Control for Heinz. After the war he finished his degree in Chemistry at Western. He lived with my family in Leamington until his death in 1974.”
