IAIN TROUP
IAIN TROUP September 14, 1919 - October 20, 1998 Iain Troup was the only son of Mary and Joseph Troup who had emigrated from Scotland to enter the plastering business with Joseph’s brother Nick Troup. His uncle Alec Troup known as Wee Troupie played soccer for Everton 1914-1933. Iain grew up in Walkerville on Windermere St. near Ottawa. He attended King George Public School just across the street from his home, later attending Lowe High School on Giles Blvd. He wanted to become a veterinarian after high school but instead tried to enlist in the pilot programme with the RCAF. He was turned down and later enlisted in the RCAF Feb 7, 1941 as a mechanic, training at Camp Borden, Ontario prior to being assigned to Squadron #4853 in England to work on the ground crew of the Lancaster bombers.
