PHOENIX - Officials at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport said flight operations were back to normal by Sunday afternoon after dense fog caused numerous delays and cancellations.Airport spokeswoman Heather Lissner said that all departing flights were back on schedule. However, arriving flights were still trying to catch up.Super Bowl Sunday got off to an inconvenient start for hundreds of passengers trying to get to Phoenix for the game.Lissner says the fog led to 30 arriving and departing flights being cancelled. Another 80 flights coming and going were also delayed. Travelers or anyone picking up passengers should still check their flight status with their airline, Lissner added.Kickoff for the match-up between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots was at 4:30 p.m. MST at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale.Paul Coro, a sports reporter for the Arizona Republic, was supposed to be at what would have been his first ever Super Bowl experience. Instead, he has spent more than 11 hours at the Oakland Airport. The sports writer was covering a Phoenix Suns road game the night before and was supposed to be on a 6 a.m. flight back to Phoenix. But because of fog, his US Airways flight kept getting delayed and then cancelled. He was moved to a 12:30 p.m. flight that has since been delayed.I went from being able to attend my first Super Bowl to watching without sound on a TV in gate 8 of Oakland International, Coro said.Airline employees told him the problem now was the amount of air traffic at Sky Harbor, he said. US Airways spokesman Andrew Christie said the airline had 31 cancellations and 17 flight diversions as a result of the fog. The company was still in the process of trying to get customers rebooked on flights. Our employees are hard at work trying to re-accommodate their customers, Christie said. There are still delays now as we realign our crews, our equipment. All these pieces have to come into play. While Coro is used to dealing with travel delays because of his work, this is one delay that will sting for a long time. Now its making my gut turn a little bit, watching it on TV, Coro said. His assignment Sunday would have been to write sidebars on the Seattle Seahawks. Luckily, there are other co-workers at the stadium who can take over.Theyll be fine without me but I was looking forward to the experience of it, Coro said. Its not one of those things where you can say Oh well, therell always be next year.___Follow Terry Tang on twitter at https://www.twiiter.com/ttangAP Balenciaga Shoes Cheap . Lions. Catch the game on TSN1, TSN3, TSN4, and TSN5 as the tail end of a doubleheader starting at 7pm et/4pm pt. The game can also be hear on TSN Radio 1040 at 4pm pt. The Eskimos have gone from 4-14 in 2013 to 11-5 this year, but they know that securing that home playoff date for the West semifinal will not be an easy task against the Lions and their defence. Its going to be a big challenge, said running back John White, who missed Edmontons first game against the Lions this season, a 27-20 win for B.C. in Week 1. They have one of the greatest defensive fronts we play again. And two of the best linebackers in the league (Adam Bighill and Solomon Elimimian). But Im not focused on that. Theyre just players. I dont see any numbers. What the Eskimos do see is the Lions have given up just 295 points — fewest in the CFL — and have surrendered less than 20 points in five of their last six games. The Eskimos defence, however, has given up just 313 points — tied for second best with Calgary — and have surrendered less than 20 points in four of their last six games, including a shut out of the Saskatchewan Roughriders four weeks ago. With the statistics pointing towards a low-scoring, defensive game, Edmonton offensive lineman Matt ODonnell said the direction of the game will depend on the efficiency of the Eskimos offence. It all rests of thhe offence, said the six-foot-11, 340-pound right guard.dddddddddddd We have to be polished and have to play fast coming off the bye week. We have to come out and hit them fast and hit them hard. They have a good front seven. They move around a lot, have a lot of different packages, so we have to handle them physically up front. An Edmonton win, or a loss by fewer then seven points, will give the Eskimos second place. A win by the 9-7 Lions by seven points or more would keep them in the hunt for second place. Despite the importance of the game, Edmonton quarterback Mike Reilly said the team is not looking at it as a playoff-type matchup. Its a big regular season game but the loser is not going home, he said. Its a big game for a lot of reasons. Playing at home is the most important, the opportunity to secure second place and not having to worry about all the other scenarios. The Eskimos also said they werent worried about the 10 sacks the Lions recorded last week in their 28-23 win over Winnipeg. We watched the film … they got pretty lucky with 10 sacks, said ODonnell, who will be partly responsible for blocking Lions defensive end Khreem Smith — who had four of those sacks. It wont be the same thing tomorrow. Reilly agreed. I dont worry about it because they didnt play against us, he said. Every team in this league is better at some things and not so good at others. And theres going to be weeks when one team gets a lot of sacks. I have confidence in our guys, they have been playing great up front all season. ' ' '
